Giorgos
Karantonis

George Karantonis is a Partner at Metavallon, which currently manages two venture capital funds with a total of over €70 million in assets under management. Metavallon specializes in funding companies at the forefront of technological innovation that are in the early stages of development. It has received investments from the EquiFund Venture Capital Fund, established by the Greek Government and the European Investment Fund, the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments, as well as from distinguished institutional and private investors.

He holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Athens, a Master's in Geophysics from the University of Leeds, and an MBA from ALBA. He worked for several years as a business consultant and has helped many Greek SMEs secure financing by utilizing relevant Greek and European tools. Later, he worked as a senior executive in leading Greek companies in the ICT sector. He has experience in both startups and publicly listed companies on the Athens Stock Exchange (Pouliadis & Partners), as well as in the AIM and Nasdaq stock markets (Velti). In 2012, he successfully executed a management buy-out, and together with his partner, they founded Motivian Group, a trusted provider of integrated IT solutions for banks, telecommunications, and government entities in the wider Southeast Europe region.
