Christian Papathanasiou is the Chief Architect of qBTC, the world’s first quantum-safe implementation of Bitcoin.

With 20+ years in cybersecurity, he started as a penetration tester for major financial institutions (Citibank, Misys, Royal Bank of Scotland). His research has been featured in Forbes, Reuters, and Dark Reading, and he has spoken at top conferences including Black Hat and DEF CON.

Christian contributed to the ENISA guidelines for secure mobile development, pioneering Android security in its early years. A founding member of the UK Digital Currency Association and an early participant in the Bitcoin community, he wrote his first line of code at age 12 and later served as Chief Security Officer for three leading tech companies.

Today, he combines expertise in offensive security, cryptography, and distributed systems to deliver qBTC — a post-quantum secure Bitcoin designed to withstand the era of quantum computing.
